I use spiced rum from my local store in this. Since this is a water based witch hazel distillate with alcohol as the preservative you wouldn’t be able to make it into a lotion bar. A lotion bar is made with oils and waxes and won’t mix with anything water based, since oil and water don’t mix. You could add the essential oils used here to a lotion bar recipe, but it wouldn’t include the rum or witch hazel which is what tightens the pores and makes it an aftershave. It would be more of a bay spice scented lotion. Thanks for your question!

I’ve been looking for something to make for my husband that used the essential oils. What kind of rum do you use? Any tips for incorporating this into a lotion stick/bar? Would I have to leave out the rum? Thanks!
